NUP told to stop using colour red as NRM MPs among those unveiled as new members.

The Electoral Commission has ordered the newly acquired NUP party by the People Power Movement to stop using color red since it's a UPC official color. This comes to light as several MPs including from the ruling NRM have officially crossed to NUP ahead of the 2021 elections.

Today, NRM's John Baptist Nambeshe has formally joined the National Unity Platform along with other opposition leaning legislators that include Patrick Nsamba (NRM), David Kalwanga, Latif Sebaggala, and Francis Zaake. While addressing a press conference at NUP headquarters in Kamwokya, fellow legislator and presidential aspirant Kyagulanyi ask his supporters not to be doubtful of the newcomers.

“These are people that have been consistent. I admired honorable Nambeshe right from the day I first entered Parliament because he has fully represented the people of Manjiya County that sent him to Parliament. During the ‘tojikwatako’ campaign, Nambeshe stood on the side of the people of Uganda even when (President) Museveni proved powerful,” Robert Kyagulanyi.

Crossing NRM members encouraged their disgruntled colleagues to follow them.
